Basket and fishing net markers, were used mainly from the late 1700s into the early 1900s. These were used to mark nets, and baskets at local markets, all of them have fish scales on them, (Don't worry, they are so old, there is no fish odor) and they are easy to wash off, if you want.
there are 2 holes on each end
Wood-burned chop mark and hand-inked Kanji maker's marks and symbols on front and back( of most of them)
these spent much of it's life at sea, still in good condition with the normal wear, nicks, dings and weathering one finds on wooden fishing floats that have survived decades of use in the ocean. They display well with other fishing artifacts. Every vintage wood float is a little different from others in that they were hand made and have different symbols and maker's marks,
They are dirty and in the original condition they were found in, as everyone has a preference how they like antiques, I leave the option to clean them ,up to you.
We sell these in my shop in Long Beach, Washington, at Hobo Junction. If you are in the area, please drop by.
