ANTIQUE PURPLE VELVET DOMED STICK PIN BOX WITH MOTHER OF PEARL BUTTON PUSH RELEASE
This wonderful deep rich domed Purple Velvet stick pin box with a Mother Of Pearl button push release is in extremely good condition for a box from 1929 or earlier.
This beautiful box is rectangular with a domed top and is 3 1/2" long, 1 1/4" wide and 1" in height. The exterior velvet is in perfect condition with no wear. The Mother of Pearl button has no damage and the box has a firm closing and opening action. The inside of the white silk lid is embossed with the emblem of Andrew & Company Jewelers and Silversmiths Winnipeg. The inside bottom of the box has white velvet with no rips or wear but there are black marks from previous use. The hinge in undamaged and works perfectly.
George Andrew was born October 9th 1851 near Guelph Ontario and moved to Winnipeg Manitoba in 1874. One year later he opened his jewelery store and built a home out in the prairie. His previous prairie home buy is now 631 Westminister Ave. and was the first home in Winnipeg to have a private telephone. He died March 16 1929 at the age of 77.
