This gorgeous vintage shawl dates back approximately to 1960s and comes from USSR. Its design features a beautiful floral pattern of red roses and green leaves on black background with fringe.

These unique floral square shawls are called “hustka” in Ukrainian tradition. This is not just an accessory that protected from the sun or wind, but also a talisman and a valuable gift.
A scarf is a woman's amulet, because it protects her from all evil, distress, disease. Also Ukrainians have a custom, each girl gave an embroidered handkerchief, which symbolized true love, to her fiance. Today, a scarf is an indispensable element of clothing.
