Absolutely breathtaking late Victorian 10K yellow gold, amethyst and drop seed pearl pendant made by Ostby Barton. This delicate and lovely lavalier style pendant features delicate miligrain, floral accents and a prong set diamond shaped amethyst stone. It is hallmarked OB and 10K. Engelhart Cornelius Ostby was born in Oslo, Norway and immigrated to the United States in the late 1800's. In partnership with Nathan B. Barton founded the Ostby Barton company in 1879 located in Providence, Rhode Island. The business prospered greatly and in the early 1900s was the largest manufacturer of gold buy rings in the US. Starting in 1906. In 1912, Mr. Ostby and his daughter Helen boarded The Titanic to Europe to explore jewelry trends. Mr. Ostby perished on that fateful voyage but was survived by his daughter Helen who continued his legacy. Box not included.
