This design was popular in the USA during the aesthetic movement period of the mid Victorian era.
The incised registry mark on the bottom, as was used in England, indicates the date of manufacture, (very precisely), was September 25th, 1865.
Condition is remarkable for its age, with the exception of three or four very minor and inconsequential knife marks. An absolutly spectacular piece of antique English ironstone pottery.
