Batik Cotton Sarong Fabric Handmade buy Indonesian Batik Kain Tulis from Madura Indonesia Batik Hand Drawn

An old batik from Madura, a large island to the north of eastern Java. Tulis is the Indonesian word used to describe a batik that is totally handmade by "kanting" (pouring) the wax onto the material. It is not made by stamp or by mechanically printing onto the material. This is the traditional and most labour intensive way of making a buy batik.

This batik has a very dark brown almost black and white background with a floral pattern in brown and blue. It is on good soft cotton and in very good condition and is 106cm high by 224cm long.
