These two Foo Dogs literally jumped off the shelf on a recent treasure hunt. They are truly magnificent. They are hand carved out of blocks of green stone. Suffice it to say, they are heavy.
In the traditional Asian fashion, you have a male and female foo dogs to protect your home from evil spirits. These dogs are not identical the male is a heavier body than the female with a much more elaborate harness. buy The female appears a little more delicate and the markings on the base are different. They both have the ball in their mouths which is supposed to mean good luck. The detailing in the carving is truly outstanding. Their green coloring gives them a regal appearance. They sit on a block of stone that has highlights of darker and lighter shades of green. An amazing conversation piece and the pictures absolutely do not do them justice.
OVERALL CONDITION is very good to excellent with no damage that we can see. There are no makers markings that we can see.
