1950s style haute couture in silver and purple crochet cotton. Since I wanted to use my Liz Taylor doll as a model, I decided to make it in purple to match this doll's beautiful coloring.
The star of this ensemble is the melon-sleeved swing coat. The jacket's cut-away front allows the dress underneath to be more visible. Its only closure is a hook and eye hiding discretely beneath the bow at the neckline.
The dress is a sexy, sleeveless sheath which opens and closes at the center back. The bodice is worked in gray cotton which buy has a metallic silver thread running through it adding a hint of sparkle. Narrow straps hold it up.
The attached wiggle skirt is worked in purple cotton to match the jacket and hat.
The crocheted belt snaps around the waist and displays a pearl gray plastic buckle. The dress and coat are worked in shell stitch which gives brocade-like texture to the resulting "fabric".
The broad-brimmed picture hat is adorned with silver and gray roses and ribbon bows. The nonfunctional silver clutch is included.
The model measures: Bust = 5.5", Waist = 3.5". Hips = 5"
Shoes, stands, and accessories not specifically mentioned in the descriptions above are not included.
