It has a small, bright, light in the center of both roses that blink on & off; it has an on/off switch & runs on 2-AA batteries (included). The globe looks like it is glass, but I'm pretty sure it's plastic; the gold bottom is plastic. It winds up & plays perfectly. Approximately 9"H, 5.75"W... have others too.
