Here's the technical bit... the ruby gets its star from dense inclusions of tiny fibers of rutile (also known as "silk"). The stars are caused by light reflecting from needle-like inclusions of rutile aligned perpendicular to the rays of the star. The star moves across the ruby as light reflects on it whilst it moves, it is particularly stunning in sunlight!

How to measure your ring finger:

1) Cut a strip of paper long enough to fit around your knuckle (as it's the widest part usually).

2) Wrap the paper around your finger, at the widest part, and mark with a pen/pencil where the two ends meet.

3) Measure the length of paper from the tip to where the pencil mark is. Let us know the measurement in centimetres or inches.
