Product code: The Arabesque® Bunny Rabbit Bookends depicting a 13th-Century Arabic Manuscript of Ibn Bakhtishu's Manafi' buy al-Hayawān. Medieval Islamic Art

These wooden bookends depict two bunny rabbits that are from an illustration from a medieval encyclopedia on animals. The manuscript from which the lasered and painted artwork is derived is a 13th-century encyclopedic work named the Kitab Manafi' al-Hayawan (The Book of the Qualities of Animals). It was originally written by the Baghdadi physician for the Abbasid caliphs, Ibn Bakhtishu in the 9th century. Many copies of this amazing work have been copied and recopied in the Islamic world.

At The Arabesque, we really admire the age-old historical tradition of depicting animals in art and we always try to recreate modern historical home decor based on this theme.

This work of art is a buy perfect example of our love for historical animal art. It is perfect for any room in your home, especially in a nursery.

The bookends are sold in a set. Each measures 8 inches in length, 6 inches in width, and 9 inches in height. They have been finished in shellac.
