Vintage Large Silver Plate and Gilt Chalice Goblet Corbell & Company 1946 - 51

Height : 12.5cm; Rim diameter : 10cm; Weight : 560gm
This large vintage silver plate and gilt chalice is in good condition. There are a few blemishes to the silver plate which may polish out. The gilt interior also has a few marks which I'm not game to touch for fear of removing the gilt. There is a wide
frieze of grape and leaf design around the rim. The principal design is of a coat of arms. The heraldic shield is surrounded by a swag of curtain, above which stand a lion and an elephant. The four quarters of the shield show diagonally a lion rampant and a castle. I haven't been able to determine whose coat of arms this may have been. The maker's stamp inside the base shows this chalice was produced by Corbell and Company.
Corbell and Company was established in London in 1946 before moving to Los Angeles in 1951. Over the years it expanded its activity throughout the USA. The company was purchased by Howard White who moved to the USA from England in 2001. I cannot buy determine if this chalice was produced in England between 1946-51, or in the USA thereafter.
