Large Free Form Turquoise buy Cabochon, 110 carats, Chinese "Sky Horse" vintage, natural, with lots of matrix

This is a large free-form type turquoise cab that I had in my collection. It is natural turquoise, originating in China, dating from the "Sky Horse" era diggings of the mid 1990's. It has NOT been stabilized, treated, or otherwise filled; and has absolutely no backing material whatsoever. This cabochon weighs in at approximately 20 grams, or 110 carats.

The cut is excellent, and somewhat high dome --- not flat at all. The color and clarity are also very good in my opinion. I have been trading turquoise and designing jewelry for many years buy --- since 1982 --- and this era of Chinese turquoise brought forth some great specimens. This particular piece has great potential for making a singular piece of turquoise jewelry that would have great value.

The matrix is dark, primarily of limonite, with great contrast and spider-webbing. Additionally there is some quartz crystal in places, typical of a cavity-type formation. There is also a touch of green in one corner, a wash of malachite, or even elements of a dentrite. There is certainly a lot of "zat" in this singular cabochon.

I have taken several photos and have tried to show the color in several exposures. This is natural turquoise, as I have mentioned, but I do not believe it is on a hardness level of Bisbee turquoise, of which I am very familiar with. Nonetheless it is a spectacular piece, and so I have priced it accordingly --- remember this piece is 110 carats.

I am hoping this will go to a great jeweler who will do it justice. It has a natural "foot" shape that would lend itself well to traditional turquoise jewelry.
