Product code: Richard King Gracious Street - 1700s Colonial Era Pewter Ware buy Dinner Plate
buy This auction is for a super rare, obviously used, Richard King Pewter Antique 18th Century Dinner Plate, made in England circa 1700's. Measures roughly at a nominal 9 3/4" diameter. It's so old that George Washington himself could have eaten off of it! Not saying he did for sure, but one really does have to wonder what the history of this plate is. Per research, Richard King II was a pewter smith based in London, England, whom primarily made metalware (pewter) for the export market to the British colonies in the 'new world' (aka North America), Condition: Pay heed to the lighter colored spot on the plate, that is where a pewter smith repaired this plate with a different pewter alloy blend at some unknown point in history. We know this repair work is extremely old, likely no later than 1800's, due to the normal usage wear that matches and carries into the surrounding metal of the plate. Also consider that people have known for over a century now that you can get lead poisoning from eat.
