Author - J. H Kellogg - founder among other things of the Kellogg's brand of cereal.
Boards and spine bound in a light brown leather with black and gilt gold lettering and design on spine.

Dr. Kellogg was involved in many things in his life. This book is an example of his wish, though narrow minded and Victorian in view, to improve health for men and women and help them live better lives.
He was also, for at least a portion of his life, involved with Eugenics, Seventh Day Adventist Church, Temperance, Pantheism, and more.
In this book there are portions that reflect the time he lived in. There is a chapter he advocated circumcision as a remedy for "local uncleanliness" (which he thought could lead to "unchastity"), phimosis, and in small boys masturbation.

He also believed in health through diet, exercise, clean living and his promoted this in his health sanitarium in Battle Creek Michigan.

Older book ( 120+ years), be sure to take a good look at all of the pictures, they will give you a good idea of condition.
End paper in front has some old residue from a removed piece of paper. See pic. no. 7.
Leather boards and spine have wear especially on corners, edges and hinges. Some soiling from handling.
Spine is good with only light wiggle. Pages are all attached and seem tight.
Interior pages are in good antique condition with some general wear from use and age.
Endpaper paste down in front has pencil signature of previous owner.
A few small random marks. Nothing major.
Stored in smoke free area and no unpleasant odor. Suitable for reading.
