Tavern buy Style Tankard Handmade from Cherry Wood with an Epoxy finish

This is my Tavern style tankard handmade in cherry wood. This tankard holds 16oz. To make tankards like these I first cut the wood into staves and glue them together into a cylinder and then glue on a base. This creates the blank. I then put this blank on the lathe to shape it. After the blank is shaped I glue the handle on.

For this particular tankard there is a food safe epoxy resin encasing the entire tankard. This makes it water proof and very heat resistant. As a positive side effect it also strengthens the entire construction.

You can put what ever you wish to drink in this tankard, it can handle it. The epoxy coating is heat resistant up to 230°F! So yes you can put your coffee, tea*, or hot chocolate in it. It is also resistant to alcoholic drinks so you can of course drink your beer or whiskey or whatever tasty beverage you would like from this tankard.

The tankard in the photos is the tankard that you will get. Nature did all the hard work, I just shaped it, glued it, and added the finish. I hope for my creations to inspire the feelings of peace and comfort, with good friends and merriment. I put a little of myself into all of my work and I hope you can find some enjoyment in owning one or more of my pieces.

Please note that all of my products are handmade by me. And whereas I strive to make the highest quality items that I can, there may be some imperfections in my products just like any other handmade item. These are not flaws, they are character. Also, wood is always changing. It may change color due to exposure to UV light over time. It may also expand and contract due to moisture. And if not treated correctly it could even crack or break. That being said if you give this piece the proper care and attention it should last through generations. Hand wash only.

* I have notice that steeping tea in the buy tankard leaves some of the tea aromas behind. The aromas do eventually fade away but if you do not mind this then it is not an issue.
