To create a perfect crystal sphere, imperfections have to be polished away, these imperfections are usually cracks that go very deep inside the rough rock, which means a lot of the times when you try to create and polish a crystal ball it will implode and break. On average, even professional polishers have to polish away at least 2-4x the volume of the end products volume, this is why crystal spheres are more expensive than other crystal products, its labour intensive and a lot of crystal material is wasted / powdered.
