Purchased in the 1990s from the now defunct but still renowned Parker Books of the West (store was actually purchased & renamed- Dumont Maps & Books of the West) is this very cheeky letter dated 1898, from the United States Attorney W.B Childer to General E.L Bartlett regarding the request of the return of certain documents and papers.
Letter is on Office of the United States Attorney for New Mexico letterhead. When held up to a light, the paper is embossed Holyoke Mass USA-most likely from the Valley Paper Co-who's mill was built buy in 1864 and produced fine writing paper.
Letter is signed in ink (probably fountain pen) by W.B Childer, and is dripping in sarcasm.

Condition:
Letter was bought and kept in a plastic loose leaf sleeve.
Letter has 2 creases from being folded. Age related discoloration. Some light foxing-some light spots of red ink on reverse side.
Type is the color purple.
A wonderful gift, worthy of being framed, for an Attorney or a history buff!
