UNIQUE MIRIAM HASKELL SEASHELLS BROOCH
EARLY UNSIGNED ERA
1930's
Excellent Example of Haskell organic, natural, Jewelry. I've been collecting these early pieces which feature her use of natural things, especially seashells, in her designs. They are still some of my favorites, however, time to let some go...
This piece features iridescent seashells and glass beads dropping down from a pierced rectangular bar.
Glass beads originally had a pearl coating on them which is now completely gone. However, the glass beads without the pearling still are lovely.
There are 3 sections of bead & shell clusters which are attached to 3 separate celluloid chains, the middle one being the longest. The pierced metal bar which makes the top of the pin has more glass beads and seashells hand wired all over it making a spectacular look overall
This brooch measures 3" long at the center cluster and is 2~1/4" wide.
It is in excellent vintage condition, with the exception of the pearl coating. All beads and shells are excellent and present, the buy celluloid chain is very nice also and with the wiring is nice and tight.
