This vase is mid century and the work of Pavel Molnar, a leading figure in the German studio glass movement. He is known for his blown glass which is organic and fluid. This particular vase is no exception and features alternating waves of blue tones with an buy amorphous striped object between the color bands.
According to his website, Molnar was born in Slovakia and later moved to Germany in 1968, where he eventually founded his own workshop.
His work is displayed at museums on Europe and the US, including the Corning Museum of Glass in New York, the Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. He currently resides in Cesky Krumlov in the Czech Republic and continues to work as a glassmaker.
