Product code: Natural undyed black Shetland wool and cerise cotton lace edged buy scarf

This pretty tapered small triangular knitted shawl has been hand knit by me using 86% Wool from the Shetland breed of sheep in buy natural undyed black and 14% cerise pink cotton. It has a plain knitted back and a lace edge and is really soft and also warm. Being a natural undyed wool there may be patches of slightly lighter and slightly darker which adds to the rustic nature of the item as just like humans can have natural multi-tones in their hair colour so can sheep. Natural black wool can be almost black but is mostly very dark brown (think plain dark chocolate). This is a unique and ready to ship item and you will receive the item shown in the photographs.

Shawls are very versatile and can be worn in lots of different ways. This one is made from a yarn that I hand spun in September 2013 and the fleece came from a Shetland ewe that had just had her first lamb in 2013 and who lived on a farm in Morval, Cornwall, England.

The fleece actually came from the very same sheep that I acquired the fleece of in 2012 when she was just a shearling and one of the things that I made from that is this beautiful art nouveau style shawl https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1321700602 and one of the other items I made is this fabulous diamond lace and beaded shawl https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1333589565

The fleece has not been subjected to any chemical cleaning as I use just hot water and a bit of soap and once dry all other preparation for spinning and the spinning itself is done by hand.

This would be an amazing unique handmade accessory or everyday wear or to buy as a special gift for that special lady.

All of my shawls are presented gently folded in a tissue lined gift box and come with individually created care cards. The gift box can be used for storage or reused as the label should be able to be removed without too much trouble.

How to clean hand knit or crocheted shawls:
Clean by gently placing in hand warm and a specialist delicate soap such as SOAK or Eucalan and allow to soak for 30 minutes, no vigorous rubbing is needed. Gently squeeze out the excess water (do not wring), place on a clean towel and roll it up then press down gently on the towel to soak up as much as possible. Lay out flat on a clean surface to dry, using pins and/or blocking wires to gently stretch the shawl out to shape and maintain its beauty if required.

Want to buy as a gift?
All my shawls are sent out in a brand new sturdy white ribbon tie gift box with tissue paper surrounding the shawl for protection and a couple of other special little packaging details that you only get when buying handmade. The gift box is then placed in a cardboard mailing carton to protect the gift box and then in a showerproof mail bag prior to dispatch. This is my standard packaging and I don't charge extra for this.
