In the early 1960's, the success and popularity of the James Bond movies had a huge impact forever on secret agent/spy movies and TV programs involving gadgets, weaponry, evil criminal masterminds and their organization. More and more secret agent movies and TV shows followed and audiences couldn't get enough of this genre of spy fiction or simply, “spy-fi”.
To follow this formula that the audiences loved, you had to of course have a larger than life plot, hero and villain but you also had to have the basic elements designed. Props such as logos and ID cards had to be designed, unique gadgets created, vehicles built, communication devices designed, good vs. evil logo designs, and of course, lots of uniforms for the good guys and bad guys.
But what becomes of all of these props once the movie or TV show has come and gone. Where did all those special UNCLE guns go? What happened to Maxwell Smart's shoe phone? What became of Bond's Walther PPK or Emma Peel's leather pants?
Danny Biederman, the author of this 2004 book made it his mission to locate and display these unique spy-fi items. Searching movie and TV studios as well as private memorabilia collections, he was able to locate many of these unique spy-fi items and he put them in this 2004 softbound book.
