Rafael Melendez - Vintage 980 Taxco Silver Incised Brooch / Pin with Domed Half Globe Center and C Clasp buy

buy This well made 980 Silver brooch was made in Taxco, Mexico by Rafael Melendez. It's in good vintage condition with light wear. It's secured with a straight pin and C clasp in good working condition. The brooch measures 2 inches by 1 1/2 inches and weighs 21 grams. It's signed TAXCO 980, RM (conjoined). This hallmark was used from 1939 - 1942.
Rafael Melendez (1911-1980) worked for Spratling before opening his own silver shop (Plateria Melendez) in the late 1930's. Noted silver designer, Emma Melendez is his niece.
