Sardonyx Cameo Dangle Earrings in buy Sterling Silver - Natural Shell Cameos - Beautiful Cameo Earrings with Ruby Accents - Torre Del Greco

These are a very nice pair of vintage engraved Sardonyx shell cameo earrings that were obtained in 1969 in Torre Del Greco, Italy, where they are still famous today for making the cameo and coral jewelry that began in the 17th century.

The cameos are hand-carved using the brown and ivory of the Sardonyx Shell, which is much more rare than the red and white Carnelian Shell. The artist delicately carves away the outer layer of the shell to shape a young woman's profile.

These 14mm x 10mm oval shaped cameos are very consistent in color and are undyed, from natural shell that came from the Bahamas and then was carved in Torre Del Greco.

The cameos are set in a standard sterling silver bezel crown setting and placed on Ruby accented Leverback earrings for a great style.
