A gorgeous mid 1900s Imari platter or charger made by Otagiri, Japan. Rare find.
~ The white porcelain body has a center painted with peonies surrounded by a border.
~ The outside has six panels, three have a scene with birds and flowers and three alternating panels have a single peony against a cross-hatched cobalt background. The panels are painted in vibrant polychrome buy enamels with gilt accents and some moriage cherry blossoms.
~ The edge is rimmed in gold. The back of the charger is also beautifully decorated with bold cobalt blue hand painted designs.
~ The underside has the words “Hand Painted Imari” with a Japanese character written in gold, and it has a foil Otagiri sticker on the back.
~ The charger is 12” diameter, 1.5” high, and weighs 2 lb 10 oz.
~ In excellent condition, no cracks, chips, repairs, or flaws.
