Calcite and Aragonite are essentially both a calcium carbonate but aragonite forms when exposed to greater amounts of heat and pressure. Aragonite is a very soft mineral (with a Mohs hardness of 3), so it is common for there to be imperfections or nicks along the surface. High quality blue aragonite can also be referred to as hemimorphite or smithsonite.

Blue Aragonite is a peaceful stone that resonates with the Throat, Third Eye and Heart chakras, uniting all three.
